At the Back of My Mind - Next month's newsletter

By the time you read this issue, I will be suntanning in San Diego, California, before roasting in Palm Desert and then cruising on Carnival's Elation. My Mind Games addicts - whose numbers are increasing - should not worry though, because your emails will be waiting for my return, and will tell me the time of your reply!
This month, keep your memory fit with my article on Memory Exercises, keep your body fit with my recording Affirmations for a Thinner Body, and don't forget to tell me what you think of Marcelle!
As always, don't hesitate to drop me a line about this newsletter or the previous ones. Back issues can be found here.

Way of the Mind's Article - Memory Exercises: Keep your memory fit!
Memory exercises often seem to be reserved to students, when they learn by heart their multiplication tables, or to stage actors when they memorize their lines. However, the time we need those exercises the most is when our memory is starting to decline. What can we do to keep our memory fit?

Research says...
A few years ago, a group of scientists from several universities, including Harvard, Yale, Duke and Brandeis, assessed the mental fitness of 1,192 seniors aged 70 to 80. This study, performed between 1988 and 1991, revealed four important factors that contribute to keeping your brain and memory fit:
- Level of physical activity: physical fitness is directly related to mental fitness.
- Lung function: if you breathe better, your brain cells are more oxygenated and they perform better.
- Level of education: the more you ask your brain to retain information, the better it will do.
- Feeling of control over your life: feeling happy, connected and in control goes a long way in having a healthy memory.
In another fascinating study carried out in Scotland, 460 men and women were given IQ tests at age 11, and were assessed again using the same tests nearly 70 years later, at age 79. At that time, they were also tested for physical fitness. The researchers found that physical robustness was directly related to memory. If two people have the same IQ at 11, the fitter person at 79 will be also be more mentally fit. Furthermore, people with more education tended to be healthier and had higher scores on memory and thinking tests.
What does this tell us? That memory exercises should equally target body, mind and soul!

Mind Boggling
According to Starpulse Entertainment, some of Hollywood's nicest celebrities are Will Smith, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, John Travolta, Drew Barrymore and Ellen DeGeneres. Yes, you can be rich, famous, good-looking, and still be nice!
Some people have it all...

Subconscious Mind Featured Product
Affirmations for a Thinner Body
With a soothing musical background, this recording offers slimming affirmations for you to repeat and register in your subconscious mind. Since it is not a hypnosis session -- i.e., it does require you to close your eyes and focus 100% -- it can be played while you are driving, doing chores or performing repetitive manual tasks (not thinking tasks).

Mind Games
I once knew a strange lady named Marcelle. Why strange? Because she always lied on Monday but told the truth the other six days of the week.
One day Marcelle told me "Either today is Monday or I am married".
Can you tell me if it was really Monday and if she was married or not?

You will find the solution in the next issue of With You in Mind but you still have one month to think about it!

Solution of last newsletter's Mind Game:
Two half-full barrels are dumped into one of the empty barrels.
Two more half-full barrels are dumped into another one of the empty barrels.
This results in nine full barrels, three half-full barrels, and nine empty barrels.
Each son gets three full barrels, one half-full barrel, and three empty barrels.

Nick D. was once again our winner. Ian F. came second. Angela B. came third. There were also a few inaccurate answers. Lori C. persevered and got the answer in time to be mentioned in this newsletter! Congratulations to all of you!
I now need people to challenge Nick early in the day. Remember With You In Mind is sent at 7AM (Eastern Time) on the 30th of each month!

Belly Dance Parties
Holiday Party (formerly Christmas Party)
Imagine... You have just finished your turkey dinner and your DJ starts playing dancing music. Most party guests need to move and would like to dance, but they are feeling self-conscious and believe they need a few more drinks to drown their inhibitions. Many are ready to leave...
At this moment, a dynamic, entertaining and persuasive dance instructor takes the microphone and joyfully entices everyone to give belly dance a try. A few ladies join her on the dance floor, followed by a lot more ladies and even... a few gentlemen. Encouraged by the relaxed atmosphere, the simplified dance steps and the irresistible music, they all dance, laugh, perform, cheer and applaud. All attendees, dancers and spectators alike, have an unforgettable time!
Afterward, they will be more willing to continue dancing, chatting and rejoicing together. And they will talk about this party for many years to come!
It could be Your Next Holiday Party! To find out more, just reply to this email.
