At the Back of My Mind - Next month's newsletter

If you are interested in changing someone, good luck! This issue will clarify a few things for you. You may also find something new about... sneezing!
February is an important month for me since my birthday is on the 10th! It is also my last month as an office employee. After February 27, I will be spending 100% of my time on all the wonderful activities described in this newsletter and more, as well as planning for my next Transatlantic cruise in April. What a life!
As always,, don't hesitate to drop me a line about this newsletter or the previous ones. Back issues can be found here.

Way of the Mind's Article: Changing someone - Is it possible?
No. Changing someone is not possible, but it is possible to change how you relate to this person so that he or she will have an incentive to change.
When they want to improve a relationship, most people think: "My partner is responsible for the poor relationship, therefore he or she has to change, and I am going to change him or her." Consider the following situation:
"My husband is a smoker and I am not. I wanted him to stop smoking. So I showed him the benefits of not smoking, took him to the doctor for a patch and was very understanding of his mood swings as he kept trying to quit smoking. But he didn't stop. He tried numerous times, because I kept insisting he could do it, but eventually he went back to smoking. How can I change him?"
This woman is doing exactly what will not work. She is trying to do something to him, instead of doing something to herself. The more she tries to change her husband, the more he pushes back to stay the same, even if on the surface he complies with her wishes.
What could help would be for her to accept the fact that he smokes, and stop bothering him altogether. Once he feels he doesn't have to resist her push, he can decide whether or not he wants to quit smoking. She cannot make him stop, she can just change the quality of her relationship with him.

Mind Boggling
Apparently, it is impossible to sneeze with your eyes open. Not believing it, I tried to keep my eyes open before a big 'atchoo'... and failed! Your eyes don't actually close when you sneeze but just before you do it. Try it, in case you really have nothing else to do!

Mind Games
Isaac and Albert were excitedly describing the result of the Third Annual International Science Fair Extravaganza in Sweden. There were three contestants, Louis, Rene, and Johannes. Isaac reported that Louis won the fair, while Rene came in second.
Albert, on the other hand, reported that Johannes won the fair, while Louis came in second.
In fact, neither Isaac nor Albert had given a correct report of the results of the science fair. Each of them had given one correct statement and one false statement.
What was the actual placing of the three contestants?
You will find the solution in the next issue of "With You in Mind" but you still have one month to think about it!

Solution of last newsletter's Mind Game:
The answer is 11. David won 7 matches, 4 to cancel out Robert's 4 wins and 3 more to win the pizzas.

Mind Tickle
"All sorts of bodily diseases are produced by half-used minds." - George Bernard Shaw

Bear in Mind my Upcoming Events

On February 24, I will be presenting a seminar on Training Your Mind For Success to a private group in Toronto.
Also, I have uploaded several videos showing excerpts of my seminars on my website. Those videos are posted on YouTube. Checking the numbers of times they have been viewed, I noticed that my most popular videos are the ones that deal with Letting Go, both the seminar itself and the guided imagery session. I guess there is a real need for emotional release out there!

Universal Energy Training
In August, 2008, I opened a Training Centre for Mankind-Enlightenment-Love (MEL) where I teach Universal Energy healing classes.
If you want to find out more on this powerful healing technique, I now have a presence on the MEL Global website, known as MEL Oakville. My next Basic classes will be in Oakville, on:
February 22, 2009
March 15, 2009
April 5, 2009
You can register just by replying to this email.

Belly Dance Classes
I have now booked my next cruise! I will be teaching belly dance classes aboard the brand-new Solstice from Celebrity Cruises, on a Transatlantic cruise leaving Fort Lauderdale on April 19 and arriving in Rome, Italy on May 4.
I would love to see you on the ship or in my classes! Any takers?

What's in Your Mind?
This month, I received the following email from an 18-year-old male:
Hi Frederique,
I have to admit, I never used to read your newsletter. I always glossed over it because I thought it was an article you wrote, which was already on your website, which I already read. Even though it said "newsletter" I just thought it was something else. Sorry!
(...) Anyways, I checked my e-mail and read one of your newsletters and it turns out, what I was receiving this whole time is actually a newsletter. And it was pretty good I thought. I read the latest sleep newsletter, which I thought was funny because I honestly cannot sleep anymore now that I'm back from winter holidays. So instead of getting up and doing a random activity I will just stay in bed and get a "light" sleep :)... Now I know.

I would love to receive your questions, suggestions or comments. If you have an interesting question, I may decide to write an article about it!

At the Back of My Mind
Watch out for next month's newsletter. I will share tips on guilt trips and will feature a product intended to improve your metabolism and your general well-being.
