What's in Your Mind? Your questions
At the Back of My Mind - Next month's newsletter

Are you on vacation yet? Or, at least, are you planning to go soon? I still have to wait for 8 weeks... until my 6-week Mediterranean cruise where I will teach belly dance, once every two or three days! I know, it's hard, but someone's got to do it! If you want to join me, check my Belly Dance website!

Memory, marital quarrels, numbers, classes: you will find them all in this July newsletter. As always, feel free to drop me a line about this newsletter or the previous ones. Back issues can be found here.

Way of the Mind's Article: Age and Memory Loss - Is there any hope?
Age and memory loss: those two concepts seem to be made for each other, right? Maybe not! By the time you finish reading this article, I hope you won’t be so sure!
The Internet is full of jokes about age and memory loss such as this one:
- Doctor, I can't remember anything! I forgot what happened yesterday. I forgot what my car looks like. I can't even remember my own name.
- How long have you had this problem?
- What problem?

It is a generally accepted fact that memory declines with age. But does it mean that age and memory loss always come together?

I have it on the tip of my tongue!
I am sure you are familiar with the “tip-of-the-tongue” phenomenon: you recognize a face but can’t put a name on it; or you are looking for a word that is usually part of your vocabulary, but all you can think of is that it starts with a C and sounds like duplicate! (It was ‘corroborate’!)
But did you know that this phenomenon happens once or twice a week when you are between 18 and 22 years old, and only two to four times per week, when you are between 65 and 75? Not much of a difference after all. You cannot point the finger at age and memory loss! Read the rest of this article here.

Mind Boggling
Marital quarrels hit their peak in July. If you've kept notes on your spouse's temper -- or yours -- they'll confirm it. July is also tops for riots, criminal violence and hasty legislation. Oppressive heat and consequent loss of temper control are the causes.

Mind Games
Think of a number. Add 26. Multiply by 90. Divide by 180. Multiply by 2. Subtract the number you thought of in the first place. What number are you left with? What is special about this exercise?

You will find the solution in the next issue of "With You in Mind" but you still have one month to think about it!

Solution of last month's Mind Game:
About one hour after the June edition of With you in Mind was sent, I received a brief email from N.D. with the following words:

The answer is H. The next letter on the keyboard. Too easy for a guy that lives and breathes computers :)

You are right, N.D. Well done! On a standard QWERTY keyboard, A S D F G and H appear from left to right on the middle row.

Universal Energy Training

Testimonial from a student, four days after she took the Basic Class:

...I wanted to thank you again for the training on Sunday, it was such an amazing experience. I wanted to tell you that the next day, my daughter came home and said that she felt that she had been hit in the stomach and although nothing had physically hit her she was in pain and holding her stomach. I performed the healing with special focus on the stomach. Instantly she felt relief and within 2 hours the pain was gone.
I also performed a healing on my husband that day as his sinuses were bothering him. Minutes after the healing, he began to feel relief. I have performed 3 other healings and have felt the heat that you described. (...) I know I will be back to work with you again in the future....

The next Basic classes will be held on July 3 and 8 (two evening segments) and on July 20, 2008 (all afternoon).

Read more about Universal Energy, and/or register to a class.

Belly Dance

No belly dance classes this Summer - unless you take a cruise on Celebrity's Galaxy - but get ready for the Fall! I will offer a series of six belly dance classes in October and November, 2008.

Check class information and online registration.

What's in Your Mind?
The June article on Manipulative People created some reactions, such as the following comment:
I am just re-reading 'Gone With the Wind'. If you know the story Scarlett was quite manipulative and somehow I don't mind. I am wondering if I identify this characteristic as O.K. for women and men only when in honest, romantic pursuit of a woman of their affection? If that is being biased, well, so be it. Good newsletter, provoking me to think. Keep it up! D.C.
Thank you, D.C., I appreciate all comments!

Furthermore, E.A. told me that she had a fight with her boyfriend just before receiving the newsletter. When she read the article, she was appalled to recognize many of her manipulative behaviors. Later on, she was able to catch her manipulative statements and modify them. Congratulations, E.A.!

Feel free to send me your questions, suggestions or comments. If you have an interesting question, I may decide to write an article about it!
