At the Back of My Mind - Next month's newsletter

Already one month since the first issue of "With You in Mind!" I know some of you have actively searched for the Mind Game solution, while others have been waiting patiently. Thank you for expressing your interest. Back issues can be found here. I hope you will enjoy this one.

Way of the Mind's Article: How to Apologize
So, you want to know how to apologize? This means you want to repair what you have broken, to heal what you have hurt and to go back to the way it was before you messed up, right?
The right attitude
If you really want to apologize, your desire to repair and to heal must be greater than your urge to protect yourself and your ego. To understand how the ego works, read What is self-esteem? If you are afraid of opening up and of being vulnerable, it won't work.
Sometimes, we intend to say “I am sorry,” but we really mean “I am sorry I got caught” or “I am sorry I have to apologize.” Such an apology is a waste of time. I know because I have been there! Be humble and the rest will come easier.
Put yourself in their shoes Once you have the right attitude, the first and most important part of learning how to apologize is to put yourself entirely in the other person's shoes. You have to forget your own arguments and reasons. Saying “if I were you, I would have acted differently” doesn't make sense because if I were you, I would have your own personality and would have lived your own experience, so I would have acted like you in the first place!

Mind Boggling
Allegedly, a man picks out a wife who reminds him of his mother while a woman chooses a husband who reminds her of her father. But studies seem to prove otherwise. According to recent research, both the man and the woman are most influenced in their selection of matrimonial mates by their mothers. If a woman regards her mother as unyielding, she is likely to go for an unyielding husband. If a man thinks of his mother as gentle, he will look for a gentle wife. The father of the bride or groom doesn't have this much influence, after all.

Mind Games
Mrs. Fumblefinger was working in the kitchen when a loose ring, with a big diamond on it, slipped off her finger and fell smack into some coffee. Strange to say, the diamond did not get wet. Why?

You will find the solution in the next issue of "With You in Mind" but you still have one month to think about it!

Solution of last month's Mind Game:
Lewis Carroll answered his puzzle poem with another poem:
As curlyheaded Jemmy was sleeping in bed,
His brother John gave him a blow on the head;
James opened his eyelids, and spying his brother,
Doubled his fist, and gave him another.
This kind of box, then, is not so rare;
The lids are the eyelids, the locks are the hair,
And so every schoolboy can tell to his cost,
The key to the tangles is constantly lost.
